2020 Lake Havasu Balloon Festival & Fair

I hope everyone enjoyed a very merry Christmas yesterday. Can you believe we only have five more days left of 2019? Before you know it, it’ll be time to celebrate the 2020 Lake Havasu Balloon Festival & Fair. I know that I can’t wait for it to get here. Could that be because I’m helping organize the festivities? Maybe. But I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy yourself, too.

The 2020 Lake Havasu Balloon Festival & Fair offers four days of carnival rides, games, live music, skydiving, art, and, of course, hot air balloons from Jan 9th to 12th at Lake Havasu State Park, Windsor 4.

Search our featured Lake Havasu homes for sale hereNow, New Mexico may be known for its hot air balloon antics. But our annual event gives them a run for their money. In fact, our festival eclipses any other January hot air balloon event in the entire Southwest. Gates open at 12 noon on Thursday, January 9th and last until 3 pm on Sunday, January 12th. Watch skydivers soar from up above. The classic rock band “Littletown” performs live from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm on opening night.

Take a picture with some of the unusually-shaped hot air balloons at 8 am on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Walk around inside these massive balloons before they start their daily adventures. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings start off with a sunrise flag ceremony and a mass ascension at 7:45 am. Make sure you get to the balloon field at Lake Havasu State Park, Windsor 4 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights before 6:30 pm. That’s when the evening’s Night Glow takes place. Now that’s a sight everyone needs to experience at least once during the festival. For an additional fee, journey into the Fun Zone, with rides and attractions meant for the whole family to enjoy.

This four-day affair includes tons of live music, a dog show, a paper balloon launch, a classic car show, face painting, magic shows, jugglers, belly dancers, and so much more. Interested in flying in a hot air balloon? Take a tethered ride ($20 per adult, $10 per child ages 6 to 11, $5 per child under 6). Feel a little more daring? Sign up for an untethered ride ($200 per person). Since the balloons depend on wind currents, rides remain available only when weather permits. If the wind gets out of hand, rides may close down altogether. And that could happen at any time throughout the day. So, check with the ride tent often to make sure your adventure is still on track. Visit the ride tent on the day you attend the festival to reserve your balloon ride.
